"Empowered by Jesus to love, serve, and lead."
Beloved Christ Church Family and Visitors,
Welcome! I hope you are able to participate in some of our live stream services. All services will be available for viewing afterward as well.
NEW GUIDELINES FOR WORSHIP BEGINNING NOVEMBER 22
Due to the surging number of COVID cases this week the Diocese has determined that, in order to keep the faithful as safe and healthy as possible, parishes need to revert to previous versions of protocols for in-person worship.
Therefore Christ Church is making the following changes to its guidelines, effective Sunday, November 22 through December 13:
Attendance at all services is limited to 30 people, including participants. If you signed up before this week, you may need to SignUp. again, as the form had to be changed for the new numbers.
It has been recommended that no in-person services be held on the two Sundays after Thanksgiving. However, we will continue to have services, trusting that those who have attended gatherings outside of their usual circle refrain from coming to church on those Sundays.
In-person worship at the Wednesday, Healing Eucharist is suspended, however it will still be held virtually via Zoom.
We're prepared to scale-back further if circumstances warrant in our community. As of this writing, the Diocese has asked all Philadelphia churches to limit attendance to 5% of capacity. We will keep you informed, via email, of any changes, as soon as possible.
As always, the safest choice, especially for those in vulnerable groups, is not to attend church in person, but to join via live-streaming. Please know that you are encouraged and supported in making the safest decision for yourself and your families.
Bishop's Daniel's letter, which is filled with encouragement and hope, can be read here.
To sign up for in-person worship services this Sunday, please use the following link to SignUp. The Access Code is CCM123. Worshipers should have this questionnaire completed before they come. The protocols for in-person worship are at this link. Parties greater than 5 can register with additional email addresses. For those who would like help registering for a service, please contact Rita by phone or email
Our Christ Church Book Club is currently reading Fiona Barton's novel, The Child. The Club will meet on Zoom on December 8. For Book Club meeting details, view here.
THANKSGIVING OUTREACH FOOD BAGS
The Holidays will be very different for all of us this year. One thing we would like to ensure is the same healthy holiday meal for the Second Time Around Grandparents. They have been dealing with virtual learning and keeping everyone safe. We want to help to relieve one stress by providing a gift card from Shop Rite to purchase their holiday meal “fixings”.
To that end, Christ Church members have always been very generous with their donations in the past. We hope we can count on you again to provide a donation so that we may purchase these gift cards and have them distributed to the grandparents. Your gift to this outreach program it will be much appreciated. You may do it a number of ways. One way is through Tithe.ly noting the funds are for outreach or by mailing a check to the church office, again noting the funds are for the Outreach Food Baskets. If you prefer, you can reach out to Laurie Weber, and she will gladly stop by for your donation! We ask all donations be made by November 22nd so we can plan accordingly.
CHRISTMAS ANGEL TREE
Delaware County's Children's and Youth Agency has asked us to provide gift cards only (in lieu of toys and gifts) due to COVID restrictions this year. Gift cards are requested to Walmart and Target ONLY for a minimum of $25. The gift cards will be distributed to parents early in December, so they can shop for their children before the holidays.
Ways to participate:
Put the gift card in an envelope (with the $ amount attached) - seal the envelope, write "Christmas Angels" on the bottom left of the envelope, leave on Rita's desk in the office.
Mail gift cards to Christ Church - folded in a piece of paper inside the envelope, with the amount attached and marked as above.
Give the envelope directly to Marylee Bunting at a Sunday service. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, we can help make this Christmas a merry one for some of Delaware County's neediest children!
