WORSHIP SERVICES AT CHRIST CHURCH
WILL CONTINUE TO BE VIRTUAL FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT WEEK
Due to the surge of the pandemic after the holidays, and the new COVID variant detected in our region, the Diocese has asked that churches continue to have only virtual services until the end of January. We will return to Phase II protocols when it is safe to do so.
If you would like to read or serve at any of the services, please contact Bob Miller so he can schedule you!

COLLECT FOR THE SECOND SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY
Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
PRAYER FOR PEACE AND JUSTICE
in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Grant us, O God,
A vision of your world as your love would have it:
A world where the weak are protected,
and none go hungry or poor.
A world where the riches of creation are honored and shared
so everyone might enjoy them.
A world where different races, cultures and creeds
live in peace and harmony, with equal regard.
A world where peace is built with justice
and justice is guided by love
Give us the inspiration and courage to go forth with willing hearts, minds, and bodies to build such a world, through Christ Jesus.
And may the God of hope fill us with every comfort and joy in believing. May the peace of Christ abound in our hearts and minds. and may the Holy Spirit gift and guide us now and forever. Amen.

PRAY FOR OUR COUNTRY
Sunday, on the church doorstep, candles were lit and prayers offered for peace in our country. Parishioners and neighbors have added to the lights. Please feel free to bring a candle to light anytime. A lighter will be left on the steps, but you may want to bring your own. Candles will be left burning for the days leading up to January 20.
Oh God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your son. Look now with compassion on the entire human family; and particularly this part of the family, in the United States, and those in our nation’s capital; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. - For the Human Family, Book of Common Prayer, p. 815
