Parish Life

At Christ Church all are welcome to join in the many areas that our parish offers for fellowship and service.

We are a diverse community of believers who find strength and fellowship in our worship and friendships at Christ Church. Our Parish membership include lawyers, educators, nurses, doctors, marketing managers, tradespeople, accountants, urban planners, musicians, small business proprietors, and financial professionals. Parishioners range in age from infants to nonagenarians. Children, as well as adults, are encouraged to hold active liturgical roles.

Christ Church Media welcomes all visitors to participate fully in the life of our community. We invite you to continue your journey with us, ask questions, attend our worship services and educational offerings, and participate in the activities in our community.

Let us know more about you by either calling our church office at 610-566-7525 or by e-mailing Rev. Ernie Galaz at frernie@christchurchmedia.org.

At Christ Church Media you will find:

  • An open, caring and diverse congregation

  • Opportunities to grow in the knowledge and love of God

  • Beautiful music, in a variety of forms

  • Educational opportunities for children and adults

  • Many ways to use your talents within and outside the church

Steps to Membership:

Letter of Transfer: If you are coming from another Episcopal parish, a letter of transfer officially transfers your membership from your former parish to Christ Church. The parish office can help you arrange for this letter.

To Become an Episcopalian:

Baptized: The Episcopal Church recognizes as Christians all persons who have been baptized with water in the name of the Holy Trinity. If you have not been baptized, please make an appointment with the rector to discuss the requirements for and meaning of baptism.

Confirmed: If you have been baptized in another denomination, you may consider being confirmed in the Episcopal Church. In confirmation “we express a mature commitment to Christ and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.” Confirmation classes are held every year before the bishop’s visit to Christ Church. Please feel free to make an appointment with the rector to discuss this step.

Received: If you have been confirmed in the Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Lutheran Church, or certain other churches having bishops recognized by the Episcopal Church as being in the Apostolic Succession of Bishops, you will be welcomed and received by the bishop as a confirmed member of the Episcopal Church.

For further information, please call the parish office at 610-566-7525 or e-mail Father Ernie Galaz. We look forward to getting to know you!

Hospitality

At Christ Church we want new members, as well as current members, guests, and visitors to feel a warm welcome when they walk through our doors. We strive to be an inclusive community, allowing individuals to experience their own spiritual journey in community with us. Members of the Hospitality Ministry serve in the following volunteer roles:

Ushers

Each Sunday, the ushers are responsible for handing out the service bulletins, helping individuals find seating, and providing assistance when needed. Ushers collect the weekly offerings and provide a count of parishioners. They carry the elements of bread and wine to the altar. This ministry includes junior ushers, our youngest volunteers, who may begin serving at 5 years of age. The adult ushers mentor the junior ushers by having them participate in all ushering duties. This is a wonderful way for youth members to become more involved in the service and life of Christ Church.

Greeters

Greeters provide an important hospitality service as hosts and hostesses of the Sunday worship services. This ministry often provides a visitor's first impression of Christ Church. Greeters welcome and identify visitors or guests, introduce themselves and answer questions. We invite visitors to join us for coffee hour and adult education and offer to give a tour of our church building. We also provide them with our visitor's brochure and encourage them to register their presence with us.

Refreshments and Receptions

The Refreshments and Receptions ministry offers refreshments, fellowship and good cheer to the Christ Church community. We provide the refreshments served to the congregation after the 10:00 a.m. service and before the start of Adult forum. Weekly hosts and hostesses take turns coordinating coffee service. During the summer, refreshments such as iced tea and lemonade are served on the lawn after the worship service concludes. We also organize and host special occasion receptions.

Pastoral Care

The Pastoral Care Team provides a ministry of love, compassion, comfort and support to the Christ Church parish community. The team members regularly visit the homebound, bereaved, hospitalized and those in retirement homes. The Pastoral Care Eucharistic Visitors also take communion to church members who are unable to come to church. Our rector directs and coordinates the team members as they minister to the needs of our parish family. All Pastoral Care team members have received training and are certified by the Episcopal Community Services Chaplaincy Committee. Members of our congregation, in conjunction with the pastoral team, also perform additional ministries such as providing meals, cards, e-mail, telephone contacts, companionship and transportation to medical appointments, church services and functions.

The prayer ministry meets each week and makes daily intercessory prayers for those in need.

For more information, please contact the parish office.

Our clergy make hospital visits. Please have a family member notify the clergy of the hospital admission so that a visit can be scheduled. Please note: hospitals no longer notify the clergy when a member of the parish has been admitted to the hospital.
