Youth Ministry
The Christ Church Youth Groups are a place for our youth to join
in fellowship and to get a chance to understand our faith in a
context meaningful to their lives and concerns. We have two Youth
Groups, one for youth in middle school (grades 6–8) and one for
youth in high school (grades 9–12).
The Youth Groups meet on Sunday evenings from 5:00–7:00 P.M. for
the LOGOS program. The program has four components: dinner,
craft/recreation, worship skills and Bible study. The themed dinners
are attended in common by all youth, leaders, and our "table
parents". The groups split up for the three other components.
Among the various crafts our youth groups have done include a set
of Stations of the Cross painted on our old roof slates and church
banners for the Easter and Pentecost seasons. Worship skills gives
our youth a chance for greater participation in our services. These
have included dramatic readings, processional dance, and a chime
choir. Bible study is where our youth deepen their understanding of
our underlying faith either through a published curriculum or
through their own questioning.
The success of the program depends upon the entire parish. We
have a dedicated group of almost a dozen adult leaders who are
committed to giving our youth a good foundation in Christian faith
and a safe, fun environment where they can build friendships. |
