Very Reverend Sara C. Batson

The Rector of Christ Church Media is the Very Rev. Sara C. Batson.  She was instituted to serve as Rector in 1998.  Rev. Batson was born in Tennessee and grew up in Kentucky.  She graduated from the University of Evansville in 1985 where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  She practiced nursing and was a health care executive before enrolling at the Princeton Theological Seminary in 1993.  She received the Masters in Divinity from Princeton in 1995 and then attended the General Theological Seminary in New York where she received a diploma in Anglican Studies in 1997.  Rev. Batson also has an advanced certification in Bio-Medical Ethics from Columbia University in New York. 

Rev. Batson’s sponsoring parish was All Saints in Princeton.  She has served the following parishes in New Jersey:  Holy Comforter in Rahway, St. Michael’s Church in Trenton, and St. Luke’s in Metuchen.  Before becoming Rector at Christ Church Media, Rev. Batson served as an assisting priest at Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. 

Our Rector is active in the Diocese and is currently the Dean of the Delaware Deanery.  She is also serves on the Board of Trustees of Episcopal Community Services.  She is currently the Vice-Chair of the Commission on Clergy Salary & Pensions. 

Rev. Batson serves Christ Church in many ways.  Her main spiritual gifts are Administration, Church Growth and Development, Preaching/Teaching, and Pastoral Care.  In seminary, Rev. Batson was selected by the faculty and nominated as Princeton’s candidate for the David H. C. Read preaching prize.  She is a gifted preacher.

In December of 2005, Rev. Batson will complete her seventh years as Rector of Christ Church Media.
