Christian Education

Christian Education is available in many forms at Christ Church, offering something for everyone of all ages. There are bible study groups, open forums that explore a variety of topics, youth and childrens classes with lesson plans, and many other opportunities that blend fellowship with faith explorations.

Bible Study

Open to all in the parish who are looking for fellowship, discussion and support, there is a group that meets to study the Bible.  They meet Wednesdays at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph ’s Hall.  (September through May).

Spiritual Life Committee

This group meets monthly and focuses on ways to enrich the spiritual life of the Christ Church community.

Women's Group

Through fellowship and sharing, the Women's Group encourages and uplifts each other in our faith journeys. At our monthly potluck suppers (except July and August), we share our spiritual autobiographies and other topics of interest. Outside activities have included a retreat, luncheon, tea and dinner.

Children and Youth

Christ Church views children as vital to the existence and growth of the church. As a result, a vibrant Christian Education program is available for all school age children through grade twelve. Children who are new to the church, as well as visitors, are always welcome. Classes meet immediately following the 10am service and conclude at 12:15pm.

The program uses curriculum called Weaving God’s Promises. These materials mirror the lectionary (the readings used by the adults during the service).  As a benefit, the children learn about the same lessons that are being read during the service providing an excellent opportunity for parent–child interaction at home. The children separate into age appropriate groups where greater emphasis is placed on the lessons of the day as well as the church season and calendar. A variety of methods are used to teach our children including: storytelling, demonstrations, question and answer, drawing, painting, posters, crafts, Bible study, handouts, spoken and written prayers, poems, stories and parables, Bible paraphrase, singing, skits, puppets, role play, Bible quizzes, and games.

Throughout the year, parents and children can expect to be invited to participate in several Christian Education events including the Christmas and Easter Pageants (there is always a part for everyone!), the Easter Egg Hunt, and community service activities.

At Christ Church, the children are an essential part of our community of faith and are welcomed warmly in the church service. “Busy Bags” filled with books, crayons, and activity sheets are provided for children who may need a little help focusing. A fully staffed nursery is available, as well as a cry room in the rear of the sanctuary.

Beginning at age 8, children may be eligible to serve as acolytes during worship services. Beginning at age 5, children may be eligible to serve as Junior Ushers.  Click here for more information on becoming an Acolyte, Junior Usher, and other volunteer opportunities.
