Christian Education

Christian Education is available in many forms at Christ Church, offering something for everyone of all ages. There are bible study groups, open forums that explore a variety of topics, youth and childrens classes with lesson plans, and many other opportunities that blend fellowship with faith explorations.

Bible Study

Open to all in the parish who are looking for fellowship, discussion and support, there is a group that meets to study the Bible.  They meet Wednesdays at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph ’s Hall.  (September through May).

Spiritual Life Committee

This group meets monthly and focuses on ways to enrich the spiritual life of the Christ Church community.

Women's Group

Through fellowship and sharing, the Women's Group encourages and uplifts each other in our faith journeys. At our monthly potluck suppers (except July and August), we share our spiritual autobiographies and other topics of interest. Outside activities have included a retreat, luncheon, tea and dinner.

Youth Education (LOGOS):

The LOGOS youth group for middle and high school youth meets each Sunday during the school year after the 10:00 service. The LOGOS session is from 11:30 to 1:30 and includes Bible study, Chimes, Activities and Lunch. Guests are invited to attend as well. The leaders help to bringthe stories and lessons of the Bible to life, in ways that are relevant to the lives of the students.
Throughout the year, there are chime choir performances, outings, fundraisers, days of service, an overnight lock-in at the church, and a year-end day trip. Adult volunteers are always welcome to participate.

Church School

Church School offers Christian education to children 3 years old through 5th grade. The children meet afterthe 10 AM service, and classes are dismissed at 12:15 pm.  We have three classes:  Preschool – Kindergarten, 1st-3rdgrade, and 4th & 5th grade.  Each class has two or more teachers.

The two younger classes use a Godly Play curriculum.  Godly Play is a Montessori based program that was developed as a means for children to know God using age appropriate language and materials. Godly Play creates a sacred space in which to present the stories of our faith, to wonder about them, and to allow the children open-ended opportunities to enter the story on their own terms either by using the story telling materials, or using art supplies.  It is play, and it is Godly.

The 4th-5thgrade class uses a traditional curriculum called “Living the Good News.”  The curriculum is based on the Revised Common Lectionary, and lessons are centered on the Gospel reading for the week.

Throughout the year, additional programs are included for the children. These programs include the annual Christmas pageant, "burying of the Alleluia," and A “Children’s Walk Through Holy Week.”

We emphasize the importance ofoutreach to the children through special programs including making hot mealsand breakfast bags for the Aid for Friends program.

Visitors are always welcome!
