Hospitality Ministry

Ushers - Greeters - Bread Delivery - New Members - Adult Forum

…nurturing our God given gifts to become a community sharing love for God and one another” (Christ Church Mission Statement)

The Hospitality Ministry encompasses several aspects of life here at Christ Church.  Several ministries are included in the overall description of  Hospitality such as Ushers, Greeters, Bread Delivery, New Member Incorporation.  It is our goal for not only the new members, but current members, guests and visitors to feel a warm welcome when coming through our doors.  We strive to be an inclusive community allowing for individuals to experience their own personal spiritual journey in community with us.

Ushers

The Ushers provide an important function as well as one that is very personally satisfying.  At each service the Ushers  are responsible for handing out the service bulletins, helping individuals  find seating or providing assistance when needed.   Ushers collect the weekly offerings as well as providing a count of parishioners.  They carry the elements of Bread and Wine to the Altar.
One very exciting development in our Usher program is the inclusion of Junior Ushers.  These represent some of our youngest volunteers, starting at age 5.  The Adult Ushers mentor to the Junior Ushers by having them participate in all ushering duties.  This has been a great way for our youth to become more involved in the service and life of Christ Church.

Greeters

Greeters are hosts and hostesses of the Worship Services.  It is the first impression a visitor has of Christ Church.  It is the responsibility of the Greeter to welcome and identify visitors or guests, to introduce themselves and answer any questions they may have.  We encourage them to join us for our coffee hour and adult education and invite them to a tour of our Church building.  We provide them with a visitor’s pamphlet asking them if they would please register their presence with us.  The importance of this ministry can’t be stressed enough.  It is by this initial meeting that we can then follow-up with a letter from Mother Sara along with a bread delivery and note thanking them for joining us.

Bread Delivery

The purpose of this ministry is to follow-up with visitors who registered their presence with us, by their filling out a visitor card with their name and address.  Either that same day or in the next 48 hours we deliver bread to them along with a thank you for visiting us card.  This has been a very successful ministry and has been well received.  The Sunday roster for delivery might mean being scheduled every 8 weeks or so.

New Member Incorporation

The ministry of New Member Incorporation is vital to the church community.  It is our vision that this ministry be an effective way of matching new member’s individual gifts with ministry opportunities.  As well, it is important to introduce new members to parishioners with similar interest and to create and sustain mentoring relationships.

Adult Forum Hospitality

If you enjoy being a host/hostess, then we have a job for you.  After the worship service there is a rush for refreshments and conversation.  Perhaps, it keeps everyone from starving before lunch.  Over the years, the participants of the adult forum have grunted and groaned when there’s no coffee or tea to sip.  They like to nibble on a few cookies when they sip the coffee and fellowship with friends.  To continue this hospitality, we need volunteers to give a little time and to assume a few responsibilities.  The host will provide cream for the coffee, set up the table with sugar stirrers, and the donated goodies.  At the end of the forum the host cleans the coffee urns, the tea pot and all leftover items.
Please consider signing up this year with a buddy.  You’ll make us all so happy!  Because we usually have many volunteers, you’ll only be asked a few times during the year.
